The Players
EMILY played by Sonia Backers (IMBD)
Call her Emily. The Space Station computer who has developed independent intelligence and an obsession with a certain depressing 19th century poet. May or may not be trying to kill everyone on the Space Station – but definitely trying to kill Boyle.
Sonia is an English/Australian actor based in Paris, whose works has including a wide array of theatre, from the classic to the modern, as well as many short films, commercials, and voice overs, and an appearance in the film version of The Man in Iron Mask.
MISS TAKES played by Stephanie Campion (Agent) (IMDB)
Dr Alice Takes has a PhD from the Federal Academy and the Fields medal. She also once stood Boyle up at the altar, and she has no intention to apologise. She is director of the Space Station, had a leading role in the selection of Ronald Dump as candidate for Chairman of the Federation, and is developing a top secret plan at the centre of Space Station Zeta.
Stephanie has done a bit of everything, including voiceovers and a month onstage at the Theatre du Chatelet as Mrs.Eynsford-Hill in “My Fair Lady”, and can be seen on television in “Versailles” (s3 ep 7 – viewable in 126 countries so you have no excuse). She runs a playreading workshop called “Moving Parts” in which actors have lots of fun giving life to authors’ new work and helping the audience tell the author how to rewrite the play.
BOYLE played by Damian Corcoran
All his life Boyle wanted to be an officer in Star Fleet. But after failing the psych test (nothing to do with his uncontrollable burts of sarcasm) he has spent the last dozen years working as a consultant Engineer in the private sector. He is not exactly certain why his ex-fiancee has paid so much money for him to come fix her broken down Space Station, but he is pretty certain it has nothing to do with his skills with a can of WD40.
Damian Corcoran is an actor, director, voice artist and language coach, and has worked from some of the biggest production companies in Paris including Dubbing Bros, Arte and Canal+ as well as extensive theatre work. He performs public readings for Moving Parts Paris, his own poetry for Spoken Word Paris, and is co-founder of Brava Productions and Open Globe Theatre Paris.
CODSWALLOP played by Keith Crawford @keithcrawford77
Senior Technician Codswallop will tell anyone that listens that he is actually an android. Fortunately, only Boyle is listening and he isn’t having any of it. Cod’s secret love for Emily the Station Computer has driven to construct an artificial body into which she can download: the completeness of its interfaces in no way mean it is a sex-bot.
Keith is director of Little Wonder, trained in drama and film at Roehampton Institute London, and spent the time inbetween being an Naval Officer and a Law and Economics scholar. He has directed everything from Kapek through Pinter to Shakespeare, and written just enough plays for Little Wonder that it doesn’t quite look like a vanity project. Yet.
RONALD DUMP by Joe Wilkins
Let me tell you who he is. He’s Ronald Dump, Chairman of the Federation, and he’s going to do great things, people, great, great things. Approximately 50% of the lines of this megalomaniac, psychopathic arsehole were plagiarised from the leader of a certain major western democracy, and if that doesn’t drive you to drink nothing will.
Joe is a Theatre Major who work as a stage actor with The Theatre Company of Boston, The Charles Theatre and The Boston Repertory Theatre where he has appeared in dozons of productions, including a memorable appearance with Al Pacino. He has done extensive film and television work, and return to Paris in 2014 after the passing of his wife giving us the exciting opportunity to cast this wonderful actor in very silly comedies.
