My novel Dead Moon had a bit of an incredible February. For a start, a sudden rush of sales sent it to #2 in the Amazon charts for Alien Invasion, Post-Apocalyptic and Dystopian Science Fiction – which was an amazing feeling. At the same time, the inexhaustible Anne Cater of Random Things Through my Letter Box organised a mini book blitz where four brave bloggers, all of whom had very different tastes and approaches to literature, took a bold step into the workings of my brain. Here are some excerpts from what they had to say, and links to their excellent blogs/bookstagrams.
“Builds like a pressure cooker! The story was interesting and a little bit different from anything I’ve read before. The characters are constructed very well, and they held my attention throughout the book. I would be very happy to read more of Keith Crawford’s work.” Dawns Book Reviews @DawnLewis79
“Watching the characters develop as the world crumbles around them made them feel more alive. Plenty of action and a sense of impending doom made for a fast paced final two thirds of the book after a slow but steady start. ” Ebookwyrm’s BlogCave @andyangel44
“Sci-fi is not my usual choice of genre and I did find this book uncomfortable, yet at the same time thought provoking… It is not like one of the blockbuster movies that we see depicting this kind of event. The book focuses on the aftermath of the invasion and the relationships between the characters… dark at times with portrayals of violence, alcoholism, and PTSD.” thebookwebb @TheBookWebb
“Wow! This book is an absolute rollercoaster! It cleverly encapsulates disaster, gender politics, the nature of PTSD (induced by warfare and bad parenting) and like all good sci fi, speaks to how we live now. I loved the central characters – their relationship transcends the boundaries of sexual love. They’re damaged, complex and dangerous yet rise to the ultimate challenge. It’s tremendously visual. If I had the money I’d option it for Netflix or Amazon Prime. Terrific stuff!” Lock and Load, Brides of Christ, @BrideofChrist
Huge thanks to all four wonderful bloggers for taking the time to read the ravings of an author clearly driven insane years ago, and to the marvellous Anne Cater who put the time, effort and grit in to pulling this together. It was a delight to read the reviews (and I have been fantasising about getting optioned for Netflix ever since!)
Want to read the book? It’s available on Amazon for less than the price of a cup of copy – click here. It’s also available on Kindle Unlimited. And if you do read it, pop me a line (or leave a review?) and let me know – it means the world to me.
PS. I do have some proper writing blogs in the pipeline, but with COVID, health issues and home-schooling writing and reviewing has been keeping me pretty busy. Please be patient, I’ve got a brand new series of articles that I hope to publish in April and plenty of reviews in the meantime. I’m also hoping for a couple of guest articles, and am open to solicitations for articles about the craft of writing.
