Massive congratulations to everyone who made our list. Thank you so much to everyone who entered.
On October 7th we will send feedback to all long-listed authors, who will have until November 5th to redraft and resubmit for selection to the shortlist. I will be emailing all of you over the next couple of days with details on the process.
For those of you who didn’t make the list. First, remember all competitions are subjective by nature. We are not saying you are a shit author who can’t write. Second, it takes a lot of courage to write and submit a play (and all of us who do it experience rejection – again, and again, and again) – take a moment to do something nice for yourself, to remember you achieved something.
Third, over the next few months I will be writing a series of articles outlining some of the biggest and most common problems with saw with scripts and how to correct them. I do hope you’ll subscribe to the website and keep an eye on the articles – hopefully they’ll help (and if they don’t, no harm now foul.)
I’ll be re-reading every single entry that was sent over the coming months. I’ll get in touch with as many of you as possible to describe what we thought about your play in as useful and constructive a fashion as possible. This will take me some time, so please be patient!
Once again, congratulations to everyone – those longlisted and those brave enough to face rejection – and I hope to hear from all of you soon. Keep writing!
PS. We just had a new baby last week, hence the Keith technical errors. Any small delays and spelling mistakes are due to cuteness related sleep deprivation. Sorry!
