I’m a doctor of law and economics, a qualified barrister, and a retired British naval officer. I have written for journals, collections of academic writing, and newspapers including The Economist. I also write scripts, short stories, and my novels Vile and Dead Moon are available via Amazon.
About Writing is a blog to chart my efforts to avoid fiction-related fire hazards. Around once a month I publish a detailed article on some technical aspect of creative writing. It is principally a reflective journal, written in a didactic style as suits someone who spent far too much time teaching. It is, on occasion, tongue in cheek, and a little sweary. You have been warned.
Little Wonder Radio Plays is my radio production company. We record and publish free to stream and download 10-20 minute full-cast audio-dramas, both classics and new pieces, perfect for listening to on your commute or when taking some time for yourself with a cup of tea. All we ask in return that you like, share and leave reviews.
As well as writing, I trained in drama and film at Roehampton Institute London, have directed shows from tiny street improvs to grand displays in large theatres, from writers like Kapek, Pinter and Shakespeare to a host of original writers. I like developing actors and working collaboratively with a team, but at the moment am mostly focused on scripts, novels and looking after the kids while my wife is out being a super-executive type.
I am available for commission but please don’t contact me about working for free/for exposure unless at some point we have been drunk together at 2am in a bar we aren’t sure how we got to. Otherwise, enjoy the blog and the plays, and please leave comments/reviews/likes and share stuff you find interesting!
