To celebrate the launch of my first novel, Vile, we are holding two parties. The first is in London on December 7th and the second in Paris on December 14th. These are ticketed events, both because of limited space and to help fund the launch of the book. Tickets are bought through the Kickstarter, but don’t worry, you get a lot for your money – a signed copy of the book, champagne and a buffet for the 30 euro ticket and if you splash out on the VIP ticket you also get a bag of goodies to go with your book.
In this article I’m going to give details of the dates and times of the parties, exactly how to find them, and how even the most computer-phobic amongst you can use Kickstarter to buy your ticket. I hope to see you all there!

The London Party (Dec 7th)
The London Party will be in The Library at The Gore Hotel, 190 Queen’s Gate, South Kensington, London SW7 5EX, on Saturday December 7th from 1900-2200.
We will be in an exceedingly posh private room, with a drinks service and just enough space to squeeze in 40 people. Your invitation is for you and a +1 if you desire. It includes a signed copy of the book and a glass of champagne. Lots of other drinks options are available!
The Paris Party (Dec 14th)
The Paris Party is actually quite in Paris, but is in a location that holds a special place in my heart: La Place Rouge, where I wrote most of the book, at 53 Avenue de Fontainebleau, close to Metro Line 7 “Le Kremlin Bicetre”, from 1930 until 2300.
Just like the London party your ticket gets you a book, a glass of champagne for you and your guest, and, because you can’t get the French to do anything if you don’t promise to feed them, there will be an uber-buffet taking up one half of the bar. The other half of the bar will be selling very good beer at very low prices because of a very misleadingly named happy hour (because it lasts most of the night) 😊
How to buy a ticket

If you scroll down the page, you’ll notice donation options on the right.
Click on the option that suits the type of ticket you want to buy. Buy a VIP ticket. I dare you.
Kickstarter will then ask you how much you want to donate – the ticket price is a minimum donation. Afterwards, you’ll enter your details, and if the Kickstarter makes the target then the money will be taken from your account on December 1st. Yay!
Why am I being made to pay to come to a party?
You know I like to throw a party. If you were at my 30th or 40th, or at my wedding, you know there’s nothing I like more than to open the doors, get you drunk, and make sure you don’t pay a thing. But these parties are an essential part of providing a platform for my book. Essentially, I’m asking you to help me out in return for literature and alcohol!
If you really can’t afford the Kickstarter ticket but are a friend and want to come anyway, pop me an email and I’ll try and find space to sneak you in. We’ve all had tough times, even more reason to come party.
There will be additional copies of the book for sale just in case, you know, you have an uneven table or something and need extras.
